H.E Prof. Ashraf El-Shihy Joins Advisory Board of AIJRF

The Artificial Intelligence Journalism for Research and Forecasting (AIJRF), a leading applied and academic think tank in artificial intelligence, media studies, and the Fourth and Fifth Industrial Revolutions, has announced the appointment of His Excellency Professor Ashraf El-Sheihy, President of Badr University in Cairo, Egypt, and the former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research to the AIJRF Advisory Board.
Commenting on his appointment, El-Sheihy said: “I am happy to join the Advisory Board of AIJRF, a pioneering institution that has been shaping the future of AI technologies across education, media, and advanced government services for more than seven years.”
He added, “Artificial intelligence is experiencing rapid global growth, particularly in education and content creation. Today, over 600,000 AI applications are actively in use worldwide. The global AI in education market is estimated at USD 5.88 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach USD 8.30 billion by the end of 2025. Overall, AI is expected to contribute USD 4.4 trillion to the global economy, marking it as one of the most significant technological transformations in human history.”
El-Sheihy emphasized that Egypt’s education sector has a major opportunity to integrate AI across all academic disciplines. “At Badr University, we are committed to adopting best practices and seizing every opportunity to enhance our human capital through the optimal use of artificial intelligence. This collaboration with AIJRF is an important step in that direction,” he said.

Distinguished Academic Expertise
H.E Dr. El-Shehhi previously served as President of the Egyptian Chinese University and has held several high-ranking academic and administrative positions. These include President of Zagazig University, Board Member of Coventry University in Egypt, Board Member of the Holding Company for Investment and Development (Housing and Development Bank – Egypt), Chair of the Education and Scientific Research Policy Committee at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Board Member of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology in Egypt.
A professor of structural engineering at Zagazig University, Dr. El-Shehhi brings over 45 years of experience in higher education. He has published more than 150 research papers in national and international journals and conferences, supervised over 70 PhD and master’s theses across various Egyptian universities, and authored four books in the field of structural engineering.
