Dubai/Artificial Intelligence Journalism- Until the first of April 2020, the world is  facing a complete lockdown, according to WHO Director-General : ” Fourth month since the start of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, I am deeply concerned about the rapid escalation and global spread of infection,  Over the past 5 weeks, we have witnessed a near exponential growth in the number of new cases, reaching almost every country, territory and area”.

The number of deaths has more than doubled in the past week. In the next few days we will reach 1 million confirmed cases, and 50 thousand deaths.

That is why the UN Secretary General António Guterres has warned: ” The current coronavirus outbreak is the biggest challenge for the world since World War Two. “He said it could bring a recession “that probably has no parallel in the recent past”. His warning comes amid dire predictions about the possible economic impact of measures imposed to fight the virus.

The role of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) comes to provide modern technologies, which have emerged or are in the development stage, to play a fundamental role in limiting the spread of such epidemics (Coronavirus) globally, as well as its role in changing and improving the lives of millions of people, this revolution led by artificial intelligence technologies, Robots on the top of these technologies, the Internet of Things, 3D printers, Self-driving cars, Drones , Big Data, Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), and many other technologies that emerged, and those that are in the development stage.

Can the Fourth Industrial Revolution fulfill its promises to us, and provide us with insights and solutions on how to use innovation and technology to deal with health emergencies, and its ability to contain the spread of diseases and viruses?
