Dubai| Artificial Intelligence Journalism

With the launch of Expo 2020 last Friday, it became clear where countries and companies are focusing their efforts for the future: A world based on artificial intelligence technologies and advanced techs that pave the way for smart cities in the next decade.

Expo 2020 Dubai attracts the most prominent telecommunications and technology companies, supported by advanced 5th generation networks, artificial intelligence, the Internet of things, robotics and augmented reality.

Fifth generation networks

“Expo 2020”- Dubai is the first in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region to obtain fifth-generation telecom services, through “Etisalat”.

The 5th generation technology speed is about 20 times faster than the one of the 4th generation. Thus, it will support applications such as networked vehicles, self-driving cars, the Internet of Things, and automation. 5G network will be the basis of “Expo 2020”- Dubai. It will also attract major companies to “District 2020”, the smart city that will represent the legacy of Expo 2020. Consequently, District 2020’s will be the most connected destinations and the most suitable for work, living, communication, creativity and innovation.

Artificial Intelligence in Expo 2020

Expo 2020 Dubai harnesses the power of artificial intelligence. This includes the use of specialized software for simulation and information analysis. They collaborated with “Accenture” and “Smart Dubai” to develop a virtual character; “Amal”; to conduct conversations using artificial intelligence. However, “Amal’ is capable of processing and analyzing large amounts of information directly, and answering perfectly in Arabic and English.

Interconnected digital network

More than 100 buildings across the Expo 2020 Dubai site are connected via a digital network. They are designed to accommodate up to 50 gigabytes of traffic per second, at a speed of 10 megabytes per second per use. This comes in parallel with the “Smart Dubai” initiative, aiming to become the smartest city in the world.

Artificial Intelligence robots

The robots will be equipped with technologies such as multi-touch screens, object identification and recognition, using artificial intelligence and 5G. “Terminus”, which specializes in artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, will establish its first headquarters outside China, in District 2020. Besides, it will re-employ more than 80% of Expo 2020 Dubai’s facilities.
