AIJRF New workshop: How to Write your CV in a Professional Way?

The Artificial Intelligence Journalism for Research and Forecasting (AIJRF) held a workshop, on Thursday, via Facebook, about preparing a CV, resume, and cover letter in the most professional way. it was led by Dr. Abbas AlZanjne, Director of International Relations at the Artificial Intelligence Journalism.

The workshop explained in detail the best way to write CVs, which will open the way for applicants to get better opportunities.

Dr. Abass Alzanjne

Director of USA Academic Relations Department at Artificial Intelligence Journalism for Research and Forecasting (AIJRF) think tank. Dr. Abass is a Media Expert, with over 20 years of working experience in international organizations, such as the UN and NDI. He is also a researcher in the field of communication, AI journalism, and a VT graduate student.

CV & resume

The workshop distinct between CV and resumes documents. As the first is an in-depth document that contains a high level of detail about the individual’s accomplishments, and the second is a brief document to present your work history and experiences, along with a summary of your skills and education. Also differentiated in terms of size, content, and purpose. Especially since both aim to market yourself as a job applicant who wants to “sell his skills” to the employer.

Then, Dr. Abbas Al-Zangni explained the optimal practical aspect of writing a resume, listing what your summary should contain. He also differentiated between types and forms of CVs.

Cover letter

The workshop dealt with cover letter, which is supposed to show your writing style, your interest in the job or organization. With more freedom to talk about yourself.

And since the letter gives initial impressions about the applicant for the job, Dr. Abbas explained the most important mistakes that you should avoid.

Important Tips

At the end of the workshop, Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Zaher, CEO of the Artificial Intelligence Journalism, gave important advice based on his experiences, including:

  • It is necessary to search well for the company that offers the job
  • Avoid boring skills
  • Be careful when writing the names of the companies you worked for
  • Avoid writing notorious company names
  • Do not use one resume for all jobs
  • Add a new skill to your CV every 3 months
  • Finally, put all your skills professionally on LinkedIn
