AIJWF Calls for Global Artificial Intelligence Journalism Award Nominations

The Artificial Intelligence Journalism World Forum (AIJWF) has announced to receive nominations for the Global Artificial Intelligence Journalism Award (GAIJA)​.
The forum will start receiving the candidates participating in the six award categories on February 10, 2021, until March 20, 2021.

“‎The GAIJA awards this year coincides with the emergence of many artificial intelligence technologies that have positively affected the way that world has managed Covid-19 pandemic, whether in the field of artificial intelligence journalism, health care, or managing economic activities and the daily life of people during the global lockdown.” Professor Mohammed Ali Shouman, president of Artificial Intelligence Journalism World Forum (AIJWF), said.

Adding: “AIJWF has decided  this year to honor a number of the leading Arab and international institutions and personalities for their humanitarian efforts in the artificial intelligence and its applications in the field of health, combating the Covid-19 epidemic and providing health services.”

“AIJWF has chosen an international committee from: United Arab Emirates, Egypt, U.S.A, UK, India, Australia, and New Zealand, to manage the GAIJA awards, GAIJA committee includes many experts in  artificial intelligence and academics to select candidates according to different 6 categories.” Dr. Mohamed Abdulzaher, Artificial Intelligence Journalism pioneer, and the CEO of the AIJWF said.

Abdulzaher added: “The Artificial Intelligence Journalism Foundation, through the AIJWF will present global models that contribute strongly to creating the future of humans in various fields and  taking advantage of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the Fifth Industrial Revolution technologies.

The GAIJAs are divided into six categories:

GAIJA Personality of the Year Award

First: This award will be granted to the best personality that has significantly influenced the field of artificial intelligence.

 The Artificial Journalism Research and Forecasting (AIJRF) has the right to choose the personality of the year, who has made significant and proven efforts in the field of artificial intelligence and has given good service to humanity.

GAIJA Media Organization Award

Second: The award is given to the best media organization that uses artificial intelligence journalism technologies to produce, or create media content.

The media organization must present 10 samples of artificial intelligence journalism content that have been produced through at least 3 different artificial intelligence technologies.

GAIJA Academic Research Award

Third: This award is for the best research in the field of Artificial Intelligence Journalism, and the submitted research must meet the following criteria:

The content has not been published before, whether in a book, a journal, or a newspaper article.

– The content should not be part of a master’s or doctorate or any academic degree.

– It should be creative and present new ideas and proposals in Artificial Intelligence Journalism.

A specialized scientific committee of academics and media professionals will select the winner.

GAIJA AI Innovation Award

Fourth: This award will be given to the best artificial intelligence innovation that has benefited humans over the last year.

The committee will nominate five global innovations and the best will be selected based on the committee’s recommendation and a public poll.

GAIJA Creative Media Content Award

Fifth: The GAIJA Creative Media Content Award (GAIJA) will be given to the best media content produced by any artificial intelligence journalism technologies.

The following criteria for the nominated technologies must include:

-It should be produced from January 2020 until March 2021.

– The nominated person or organization should provide a simple introductory video about the content stating what medium it is used in. For example, whether it is published or printed content, or whether it is broadcast; whether it is used for social media or other applications.

– The award committee has the right to communicate with the candidates for further discussion and clarification.

  • Entries shall be accepted in both Arabic and English.
GAIJA AI Student Award

Sixth: It will be granted to the best students in producing artificial intelligence projects, whether it is an individual or group. The students should present an official letter from the university or a college. The AI project must be under a Professor’s supervision and must be creative with new ideas and thoughts
